Syllabus Templates

"The syllabus provides a glimpse into how the course will serve as a building block toward the student’s future."

Why the Syllabus Matters

A well-crafted syllabus is more than a list of course requirements and the weekly schedule—it's a pedagogical tool, a roadmap, and a catalyst for equity and inclusion. A well-designed syllabus can set the tone for a course, communicate expectations, and foster the kind of learning environment where students can thrive and succeed.

Syllabus Guidelines

Instructors are advised to refer to the Provost’s Office Syllabi Resources page which provides a clear syllabus template and syllabus language that faculty are encouraged to include. Helpful wording is also provided for statements such as Absence Policy, Academic Integrity, Students with Disabilities, and more. Additional information can be found in CITL’s Guidelines for Creating a Syllabus.
