Course Design Support at CITL

Pathways for Course Design Support

Designing an effective online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced course doesn't have to be overwhelming. Whether you're building from scratch, revising an existing course, or just looking for helpful tools, CITL offers flexible pathways to match your needs, and your schedule.

We’ve organized our course design support into three levels from full co-creation to DIY toolkits so you can find the right fit, right now.

Full Course Development

Structured course design in partnership with CITL

Ideal for programs launching courses or undertaking a major redesign, this level offers a collaborative, guided approach to course creation. CITL partners with instructors to co-create courses with well-defined learning objectives that align with program outcomes.

Each project is assigned CITL co-leads who manage design and development from concept to launch. Our team of instructional designers, media specialists, and accessibility experts will support you through every phase from aligning learning activities to designing modules and integrating media. We also provide support during the course’s first offering and help gather student feedback to inform future improvements.

What to Expect:

  • Dedicated CITL team members to support timeline and deliverables
  • Collaborative course mapping, assessment planning, and UDL integration
  • Full Canvas course design and development
  • Custom media production, illustration and animation
  • Accessibility, copyright and quality assurance support
  • Faculty support during the course’s initial run
  • Student feedback collection and analysis for iterative design
  • Guidance on GenAI use, policy, and integration
Targeted Course (Re)Design

Self-directed support for specific course updates.

Targeted Course (Re)Design services are designed to meet you right where you are. Whether you’re refreshing a syllabus, rethinking an assignment, improving accessibility, or considering new delivery formats. We frequently assist faculty and instructors with adapting to new modalities (like hybrid or asynchronous delivery), integrating instructional media, flipped classroom models, and responding thoughtfully to AI’s role in teaching and learning.

This flexible, self-directed support model lets you define your needs. We offer targeted guidance, tools, facilities, and consultations on request—empowering you to make meaningful improvements without a full course design process.

What you can expect:

  • Optional short-term consultations
  • Feedback on assignments, modules, or course organization
  • Media studio resources and self-recording aids
  • Support for flipped learning, media updates, or modality shifts
  • Guidance on incorporating AI and improving accessibility
  • The freedom to work at your pace and on your timeline
